Gent, one of the most beautiful cities in Belgium
Belgium, a welcoming country located in the center of Europe, is full of many discreet and bucolic cities. This time, we set out to explore Ghent. Bruges remains our favorite city for the moment, but the architectural wealth of Ghent and its quality of life must be highlighted. Ghent is above all a big city teeming with people and which is therefore necessarily very lively! Besides the many canals which crisscross the city give it a very particular cachet.
Photos of Ghent in the rain or the clouds
Ghent is sometimes nicknamed the jewel of Flanders. Its architecture is really apart. Here we like the atmosphere of the bars all glued to each other. Our favorite in Ghent is the hotel bar 1898 “The Post”. This bar, “the Cobber”, is an ideal place for a unique experience in a cozy atmosphere.
The places that matter in Gent
Ghent is above all a city of culture. There is for example the inevitable castle of the Counts of Flanders, one of the very few medieval castles to be located in the city center. There is also the Saint-Bavon cathedral or the Saint-Pierre abbey. More contemporary, the designmuseum, the S.M.A.K and the Museum of Fine Arts are essential places of culture in Ghent. To benefit from a different view you can always visit the city by bicycle or by boat. But for those who wish to save time do not hesitate to get the 72 hour pass for around 35 euros (bus, tram and boat). It is the essential Citycard Gent.
