The city of Budapest is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. A remarkable town both from an architectural point of view and in terms of quality of life. This large city, spread out on both sides of the Danube, is a city with something extraordinary. Here is a summary of the most beautiful panoramic views of Budapest. A little tip to orient yourself, all the most beautiful views of Budapest are on the Buda side. Indeed the right bank is the hilliest side of Budapest. While the left bank, the most populated, is hopelessly flat.

1. The view from the Freedom Bridge

This bridge connects the market of Pest with the hills of Gellért. This wide bridge, which allows the circulation of trams, cars, bicycles, and pedestrians, offers excellent views of the city and the Danube River. In addition to the bridge, which is quite admirable, you can also enjoy a breathtaking view of the beautiful city of Budapest and the Danube from the bridge.

Other alternatives

Budapest is a city cut in two and connected by many bridges. The Chain Bridge, for example, the oldest bridge in the town, has the advantage of being more central than the Freedom Bridge. Another possibility is the Elisabeth Bridge, a modern, also suspended bridge, which connects the Belvaros districts with the famous Rudas Spa.

2. Mount Gellért

After crossing the bridge, why not continue to Mount Gellert. The Mont Gellert district allows you to walk in a park towards the top of Mont Gellert which dominates the town. The interest of this route is that it will enable you to benefit very regularly from viewpoints all along the climb. There are small circular platforms that will allow you to admire the city. Here you will find some of the most beautiful views of Budapest.

Once you reach the top, the view is no longer as charming and much less intimate. Indeed, at the very top of this mountain, there is a colossal monument at the foot of which a few kiosks, street vendors, and other Bonetto players share the economic benefits of mass tourism.

The summit of Mount Gellért consists of several statues and a citadel. A sort of stronghold built by the Austrians who wanted to assert and ensure their presence in the town in 1854.

3. The Royal Castle of Budapest

Going down from the Gellert hill towards the north of the town, i.e. up the river, there is another quite remarkable viewpoint. It is the Royal Castle of Budapest. A group of garden and fortress buildings.

4. The Fisherman’s Bastion

This place is the surrounding wall of the Royal Castle of Budapest. It was an enclosure that allowed the soldiers to do their watchtower and to have an unobstructed view of the surroundings and possible attacks. If we mention the fishermen’s stronghold, it is because it is an activity in itself and this place has something extraordinary. And this despite overflowing tourist affluence.

5. The view from the Batthyany ter metro station is a real treat.

Situated on the right bank of the Danube at the Batthyany tér metro station is one of the most beautiful views you can have of the most famous and majestic building in the Hungarian capital.

6. St. Stephen’s Basilica view’s

It is one of the few panoramic viewpoints on the left bank. St. Stephen’s Basilica, therefore, looks like an ivory tower from which one can admire the city that was once called Pest.
