No need to travel far away to discover some fabulous islands with beautiful waters. From north to south and from east to west, let’s find out the most beautiful islands in Europe.
The islands of the Mediterranean
It is impossible to begin this review with anything other than the islands of one of the most typical seas in the world. The Mediterranean Sea is indeed the cradle of antiquity, an area that has experienced an economic and commercial boom unprecedented in the history of humanity. This closed sea is also an environmental treasure whose water is renewed only once every hundred years.
The Magdalena Archipelago
We start this first stage with small islands that are a short distance from a large Italian island, Sardinia. Although Sardinia is a beautiful island, it will not appear in this classification to avoid any duplication. Indeed we can consider that the Magdalena archipelago is part of this big island.
Corsica
The Isle of Beauty is one of the most beautiful islands in Europe. It must be acknowledged that the coastline of Corsica is exceptional. As an example, it is one of the rare places in the world where you can find a pink granite coast.
The Eolien archipelago
This little-known archipelago in southern Italy is probably one of the most incredible places in Europe perhaps because it is home to the only active volcano in all of Europe.
The Saronic Islands in the Aegean Sea
No need to go to the Cyclades to discover the Greek islands. Along the Peloponnese are the islands of Hydra, Spetsai or Poros, which are all stopovers on the way to the mysterious coasts of Monemvasia.
The Adriatic and the Croatian Archipelago
Situated on the Adriatic coast, there are almost 700 islands in Croatia alone.
The island of Rab in North Dalmatia
This island is sensational, a historic and beautiful island. Situated north of the island of Pag, the island of Rab is an island less mediatized but worth the detour.
Europe’s most beautiful islands in the Atlantic
The archipelago of the Cies Islands
You have to go off the coast of Galicia to discover a string of islands immersed in the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The peculiarity of this place is the absence of the Gulf Stream, so that the waters reach a temperature of fourteen degrees, even in the middle of summer with more than 35 degrees. It is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe.
Iceland
Situated in the extreme northwest of Europe, Iceland is an inhospitable island that conceals fabulous geological and natural treasures. Volcanoes, geysers, black sand beaches and a jagged coastline swept by winds and swell. All this awaits you on this island which is one of the most beautiful in Europe.
The Canary Islands
No need to go to the other side of the world to discover breathtaking landscapes. The island of Fuerteventura is undoubtedly the most immaculate of the whole archipelago, except Moro Jable and Corralejo. These two tourist towns do not detract from the beauty of the island.
The most courageous will go to the south and west coast of the Jandia Natural Park. An incredible place located on one of the youngest islands with only ten million years.
The islands of the North Sea
The Lofoten Islands
It is probably one of the most visited places in the whole of Norway. But this is also where you can find the most beautiful islands in Europe. The Lofoten archipelago is located above the Arctic Circle and its nights are lulled almost all year round by the Northern Lights.
The fjords of the islands, which are only ancient glacial valleys, give these islands in northern Europe a perfect and unique appearance in the world. In summer the temperature rarely exceeds 15 degrees. On the other hand, the weather is particularly capricious, and it rains quite often.
The island of Senja
Located a little north of the Lofoten archipelago, Senja is a vertiginous island. The coasts are lined with sharp and cliffs that plunge into the dark waters of the fjords.
